Ricky Gervais / Gary Shandling interview

For fans of either Gervais or Shandling (or both) this is one for you. It has to be one of the cringiest moments I have experienced in my times of being a Gervais fan - and there have been quite a few of those! Here, Gervais meets one of his favourite comedy actors - Gary Shandling and the cringe begins! Shandling seems to take a dig at Gervais at every opportunity he can get. I’m still unsure as to whether it is set up or not, and other comments seem to show that I’m not the only one confused.

This could either be set up, in true Gervais style, to make you feel as uncomfortable as you possibly can. It could be Shandling playing a joke, or it is Shandling being extremely rude. I think it is a joke, but sometimes it seems hard to tell, especially as it has been said on the Independant website: "a spokesman confirms that “there are no plans” for Gervais to return to the interviewer’s seat in the forseeable future". One source claims: "The Shandling experience put him off for good."".
