Leave Some Love

[Lloyds TSB] For the Journey

March 27th, 2007

Weird may be the wrong word to describe this but it’s close, possibly strange is a better description. However you maye describe it, I love it, or them. I’m talking about the recent [MARCH 2007] Lloyds TSB “For The Journey” adverts whereby in the first, a couple meet on a train, fall in love, get married, buy a house, build an extension, have a child - who grows up, meets a lover and moves out.

The advert ends with the now elderly couple waving goodbye to their daughter and husband leaving on a train. I even feel myself warming to these characters in an advert that is less than a minute long - the way the elderly man pushes his glasses back onto his head as the train leaves at the end - absolutely fantastic.

The Tim Burtonesque style is so appealing, the strange, the interesting, the different. The music [Eliza's Aria by Elena Katsby] is hauntingly good, the animation is fantastic, the way the train slows for the cows in the second advert, nudging through them as they stare in with their big wide eyes.

Anything that shows consideration for animals has to be good but these adverts to me are fantastic. I wish more adverts can be like this. Fed up with listening to Mr “I cannot regulate my voice” Barry Scott in the Cilit Bang advert, at least we have the Lloyds TSB ad and the Innocent adverts. [I think I watch too much TV - Is that possible?].
